Trekking tours
You know how to put one foot in front of the other? We’ve put together a selection of treks to show you that it is possible to leave the tourist trail. Expect to walk through remote countryside dotted with various ethnic villages, and be given a warm and generous welcome and a few curious smiles by the children. Don’t expect, on the other hand, to bump into many other tourists. We organise several treks, but will gladly accommodate suggestions for treks in other regions or simply longer variations of the treks outlined below.
Mai Chau 6 days
After breakfast, we heading west to Hoa Binh Province where we stop for refreshments. From our stop we climb towards the Mai Chau valley, about another two hours away, stopping on the way to take in the spectacular scenery. Following lunch in Mai Chau town we drive to the White Thai village of Sa Linh from where we commence a 3-hour trek to the village of Hang Kia. Our hosts for this evening will be the H’mong minority people. Whilst enjoying their hospitality, we will discover a little more about their lives and culture. Tonight’s accommodation could probably be a little more rustic than you would be used to.
Trek around Mai Chau - 3 days
This short trek around Mai Chau takes you through some spectacular scenery and gives you the opportunity to stay with two local ethnic minority groups; the H’Mong and the White Thai. You are invited to experience their way of life and cultures.
Trek from Sapa 2 days
A visit to the region of Sapa is a must for trek enthusiasts who wish to see the mountains of northern Tonkin. The sight of mountains covered in abstract patterns of terraced rice paddies is breath-taking. This region is home to ethnic groups that include the Lu, H’Mong, Red Dao and Tay. The friendliness of your hosts will make your visit to this unspoiled wilderness truly memorable.
Trek from Sapa 3 days

Lunch with your host and his family. In the afternoon, help out with household chores and, time allowing, go for a swim in the river Lave. Dine in the village and spend the time with the locals. Dinner is followed by an evening of traditional song and dance in the village hall. Overnight in the village (basic facilities). (Lunch, Din)
Trek to the summit of Mt Fansipan 3 days
At 3,143m, Mt Fansipan is the highest peak in SE Asia. The summit is a very achievable day and a half trek from Sapa. We spend 2 nights, sleeping in tents, at a base camp at 2,300m in the middle of the forest of Hoang Lien.
