Cat Ba

Cat Ba is the jewel in the Gulf of Tonkin. The archipelago counts 366 islands and islets, and was recognised by Unesco in 2004 as a World Biosphere Reserve. The climate is both tropical and maritime. There are many small discrete beaches of fine white sand: Cát Cò 1, Cát Cò 2, Cát Dua, Cát Ông, Cát Trai Gái, ??ong Danh. Set against a backdrop of limestone mountains, the morning sun rises crimson over mischievous waves, silhouetting the fishermen, as they drop anchor and gather their catch. This, surely, is close to paradise.
